
Domestic air travel documents are specified in Appendix VII of Circular 42/2023/TT-BGTVT: must be original, still valid (or valid electronic copy).
1. Passengers from 14 years old
- Citizen identification card/ID card, valid passport.
- VNeID level 2 electronic identity account (application must be active and have a network connection).
- Identification certificate issued by the police - with photo, stamp, valid for 30 days (used when documents are lost).
- Driver's licenses are not accepted.
2. Children under 14 years old
- Birth certificate (original or certified copy); Children under 2 months who do not have a birth certificate use a birth certificate.
- Or the child's information on the parent/guardian's level 2 VNeID account.
- Children cared for by a social protection facility: facility's confirmation (valid for 6 months).
3. International flight
Valid passport (usually minimum 6 months), visa/entry permit, transit visa if necessary. International students bring additional admission letters, CoE/I-20, financial documents, and insurance.
4. Children traveling alone
Vietnam Airlines: children 6–under 12 years old are required to use the unaccompanied child service; 2–under 6 years old must be accompanied by an attendant. Check in at least 24–36 hours before flight time.
