For international students and expatriate workers, a ticket home to celebrate Tet is the most precious gift of the year. But because everyone wants to go home, return tickets to Vietnam during Tet often sell out early and prices increase sharply close to the day.
When should I book Tet tickets?
VeDuHoc team's experience: reserve seats from August to October for popular routes from Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, USA... The closer to Tet, the fewer cheap classes and the harder it is to find good flight days.
Tips for choosing flight dates
- Avoid the 2–3 “peak” days before New Year's Eve; Flying a week earlier is often significantly cheaper.
- Select “flexible ±3 days” to let the specialist find the date with the best price.
- Consider round-trip tickets if you know your return to study/work schedule.
Combine domestic route to hometown
If your hometown is in Da Nang, Hue, Vinh, Phu Quoc..., book a domestic flight from the beginning to synchronize flight times and luggage.
Parents book tickets for their children abroad
If your child is in Seoul or Sydney, parents can still book tickets in Vietnam: transfer money to HVSC company account, receive a VAT invoice, and send the ticket directly to the child via Zalo/email.
Tet gift luggage
Choose a route with a high baggage allowance or buy more in advance to bring gifts home to your family without worrying about excess fees.
